British company the Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) has bought Broadway’s biggest theatre, Foxwoods, from Live Nation.

“We have been working to realign our assets and when it became clear to us that the Foxwoods Theatre would not figure prominently in our plans for the future, we turned our focus to finding the right buyer for this landmark theatre,” Michael Rapino, president and chief executive officer of Live Nation Entertainment, said.

ATG acquired Live Nation’s 16 strong UK theatre portfolio four years ago in a £90m deal financed by Exponent Private Equity, but the 2,000 capacity Foxwoods Theatre is the company’s first dramatic step beyond these shores.
