AV rental company Anna Valley’s new LED 7mm floor was used at The Prince’s Trust & Samsung Celebrate Success Awards 2015.

Visuals and effects were displayed on the floor on which Ant and Dec stepped out, along with major stars including Kevin Spacey and Simon Cowell at The Prince’s Trust & Samsung Celebrate Success Awards 2015, held at the Odeon in Leicester Square, London.

The event, which took place on 12 March, recognised young people who have overcome unemployment, abuse, homelessness and depression with the help of The Prince’s Trust.

Blueprint, the production team, worked closely with Anna Valley, which works in the live events and broadcast sector. Anna Valley’s new high resolution 7mm LED floor was used within the event creating a 9m x 4.5m LED floor.

As well as the 7mm floor, the latest equipment deployed included a 12mm LED backdrop to create a walk in feature and a 6 camera PPU (Portable Production Unit) featuring Sony HDC-2500 Cameras with full Pro Res recording. In addition, Anna Valley also provided a 30ft jib and RF link.

“The LED floor gave us the ability to transform the set and stage at a touch of a button.  It allowed us to recognise each of our sponsors and provide a great backdrop for the amazing performances we had,” Lucy Lyall, event manager for The Prince’s Trust said. “The highlight was the graphic animation Blueprint created that matched word for word the lyrics that spoken word artist, George The Poet, performed. It really took the audience’s breath away.”

Mark Anand, global head of video and live event production at Blueprint added: “At Blueprint we’re always looking to find innovative ways to blend the latest technology into our live shows and create a solution that fully supports the client’s message in a way that is integral to the wider story.

“We have had a long standing relationship with Anna Valley and it was great to work with them again on this highly visual and prestigious project. What’s great about the team is that they fully understand our needs and are constantly striving to meet our high production standards and demands.

“While productions have been using LED floor for a while now the new 7mm has changed the way we work. Expensive stage construction and coverings are now a thing of the past and for the first time we can work directly on the surface. Not only has the new floor bought down the cost and rig time into an area that works for our clients but the results have been absolutely spectacular.

“What’s more it’s allowed us to extend our large canvas approach, where we seamlessly blend video, graphics, cameras and live performance together which previously would have been impossible on a set budget.

“The new 7mm floor has proven so impressive and effective that The Prince’s Trust & Samsung Celebrate Success Awards is the third production we’ve employed it on. Moving forward there are plenty of more projects in the pipeline it would be suitable for in the future.”
