England 2015 has appointed Arena Group as the official contracted supplier of temporary overlay at Rugby World Cup 2015.

The event will take place at more than 50 venues around the UK, 18 September – 31 October 2015.

Arena Group will be a turnkey supplier, providing temporary overlay to all 54 venues, including 13 stadium venues and 41 team bases.

Most notable is the Venue Media Centre located at Twickenham which will house up to 600 of the world’s media, broadcasting the latest Rugby World Cup action to countries across the globe.

The temporary venue will be a 35m x 25m three-storey Arcus structure totalling 2,400sqm of floor space, delivered as a fully-functioning event media facility with broadband and Wi-Fi capability, press rooms for interviews and media desks.

Arena Structures – a division of Arena Group – will provide structures for the 41 team bases, which will be complete with scaffolding and screened fencing to ensure the teams’ privacy while they train.

Many of the venues require additional elements to cope with the surge in visitor numbers they will experience throughout the games, as well as back-of-house facilities for organisers and broadcasters. Additional facilities will include extra toilets/bathrooms, tents, cabins, power supplies and security fencing.

Nathan Pankhurst, Arena Group’s project director, said: “The Rugby World Cup is one of the sports calendar’s biggest events and we’ll be drawing on extensive experience within the sporting sector, from our work at one off events including the London 2012 Olympic Games and 2014 Commonwealth Games, to regular tournaments including the Wimbledon Championships, Ryder Cup and The Open.

“Being split across 50 plus venues creates planning and logistical challenges; however Arena Group has both the skills and experience to ensure these Games are truly world class and we’re excited to be part of the team set to create an unforgettable Rugby World Cup.”

Site works for the Venue Media Centre begin in June and construction on the other site structures begins in September, just a few weeks before the games begin. Arena Group will be coordinating numerous suppliers across the various venues throughout England and Wales.
