Coventry Festival of Motoring has been cancelled due to issues including pulled council funding.

The event, which has been running for 30 years and attracted 40,000 visitors last year, had £20,000 of funding withdrawn by the city council.

It was due to go ahead in April at Stoneleigh Park, showcasing classic cars.

Organisers Culture Coventry said the funding withdrawal was “not the only reason” they had made the decision to cancel the event, adding that events planned for 2015 and 2016 have been axed.

A revival of the event has not been ruled out, but it will remain on hold indefinitely.
