LION Trackhire have supplied temporary roadways and walkways to the 2014 Wimbledon Championships, after winning the contract last year.

While Andy Murray defends his title on centre court, LION prepared the site for its made-to-measure solution.

Planning consisted of surveying the varied landscape on-site. Special measures were taken to overcome irregular shapes and tight angles – with LION often creating panels to fit in the available space. Cut-to-fit and half panels ensured that all end ramps, side ramps and PVC mats were hazard–free.

Extra trackway and ancillary products were on-hand, along with a maintenance and emergency team.

In total, LION supplied 23,000sqm of trackway at the Championships, in areas including bus turning areas, the contractor’s compound, drop-off points, media transporter locations, outlying park and ride areas, hospitality access and golf course parking.

“Having worked with many of LION Trackhire’s team previously, I was confident that they were able to provide us with the high quality result we were looking for,” said Wimbledon’s building and services manager, John Cox. “Their site teams have been a credit to their company and matched the high standards we expect from all of our staff and contractors at The Championships.”
