Firefly will showcase its Hybrid Power Generators (HPGs) at the Showman’s Show after announcing that its Cygnus HPG has saved more than a million litres of diesel since its launch in April 2013.

Firefly has been powering festivals and live events since 2007, providing turnkey low emission temporary power, and technical and creative services.

“The 2014 summer season has been the company’s best yet, as more and more events are incorporating Firefly’s hybrid technology,” said director Andy Mead. “We have delivered fantastic savings for clients both in the UK and Europe, providing full site power services for We Love Green in Paris and Shambala festival here in the UK using 100 per cent renewable power”.

Chris Johnson, director of Shambala said: “Where I think hybrid technology is a real step forward is that during times of low power demand, the batteries of the hybrid system can handle the supply. But when demand is increased and the battery is unable to supply, in real-time, the generator then kicks in for the power required. For Shambala festival, it means massively reduced fuel bills, thanks to Firefly.”

The Cygnus HPG range received a performance and appearance overhaul to service large scale events. The complete range of Cygnus Hybrid Power Generators will be on display at this year’s Showman’s Show and visitors are encouraged to visit the Firefly stand, to see how they can contribute to carbon reduction, whilst also significantly reducing their fuel bill.

The latest editions of the newly redeveloped smaller models of the Cygnus HPG One and Cygnus HPG Two will also be on display. Whilst the fleet can scale up to operate at large events, these new units offer the flexibility to provide power for all requirements.
