Event and Visual Communication Association (Evcom) CEO Forgione has resigned after seven years in the role.

Marco Forgione will take up a CEO role in the cultural sector next month.

Forgione will remain on board at Evcom until September 4 but the association has started the search for a new CEO and the board has asked current chairman, Steve Garvey  work part time as executive chairman from the beginning of September.

Forgione told Access‘ sister title CN: “I have been offered the opportunity to lead a significant transformation project at an association in another sector. There will be a very smooth transformation at Evcom. We have a really talented secretariat and the board is in a really good position. Now is a good time for change to take place.”

A spokesman said: “All forthcoming Evcom events, awards, activities and services will continue as planned, delivered by the core team secretariat with support from the directors, members and partners.”

Evcom Chairman Steve Garvey said: “I’d like to thank Marco on behalf of the Board for his huge contribution to Evcom. He has been a wonderful CEO for Evcom and previously for the IVCA. The recent successful merger with Eventia was Marco’s initiative and he leaves the Association well-placed to grow and thrive. I’ve no doubt he will do wonders in his new role. We wish him well.”
