Security specialists G4S have secured The Open golf tournament for a five-year contract which includes the 2020 Championship.

The security agency will provide a range of services for The R&A (The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews) including securing players and VIPs, ticket checks, stewarding and round-the-clock protection for the greens.

Eric Alexander, managing director of G4S Events, said: “We are delighted that The R&A have chosen to continue working with G4S to secure The Open. Our longstanding partnership with The R&A means we understand their needs and our track record proves we can be trusted to deliver in any circumstance.”
