GL events UK has extended its partnership with the Royal and Ancient Gold Club (R&A). The deal will see the business deliver seating to The Open for the next four years, until 2020.

The temporary structures company has already begun work constructing the grandstands at The 146th Open at Royal Birkdale. The build includes the creation of the 18th grandstand arena, which will seat thousands of fans under the leader boards.

“We’ve got a productive partnership with the R&A and are delighted to be securing our working relationship with them over the next four years,” said Scott Jameson, managing director at GL events UK.

Following the trial at Royal Troon last year, GL events will also be installing viewing platforms for over 2,000 spectators.

“We’ve invested heavily in our product, we’ve built up our management and delivery team and this is giving our customers even more confidence that we’ll continue to produce at their events every time,” Jameson added.
