There are just over two months to go before England hosts the Tour de France Grand Départ. Now, live communications agency WRG has been confirmed to deliver the event’s infrastructure. 

WRG won the bid to provide the event management infrastructure for Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the Grand Départ, which will see the Tour riders travel from Leeds to Harrogate and from York to Sheffield.

Coordinating the technical operations project – including traffic management, barriers, fencing and trackway, stewarding and marshalling, medical provision, radio communications, signage and way-finding – WRG will also address the needs of stakeholders and local authorities across the course. 

The company will also manage the installation of the temporary radio systems to make sure that there is a comprehensive communications network in place through the two stages. 

“We’re delighted to be working with Leeds City Council and Tour de France Hub 2014 (TdFHUB2014) Ltd to ensure that the Tour de France is a memorable sporting event for both the UK and France,” said WRG’s deputy managing director Tim Elliott. 

The Tour de France Grand Départ kicks off with Stage 1 on 5 July.
