Ice Box is looking to expand its entertainments division in 2015 following a 260% growth over the last three years.

The ice specialist is targeting retail sites as well as other prominent locations for its events.

The London-based company took on events including the Ice Festival at Liverpool ONE, the North Pole at Parkers Piece Cambridge, Ice Skate at Wembley Park, Ice Skate Vauxhall at Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, London, and also produced and operated ice rinks at Winterville and the Ideal Home Christmas Show.

Ice Box’s creative and production teams were responsible for the complete creation, production and operation of these five large UK live public events and ice rinks.

The events included live ice carving displays, a Christmas tree maze, street entertainers, specialist fairground rides, exciting street food markets, craft bars, family entertainment and market stalls. In all cases, a rink sat at the heart of each attraction, and in Liverpool, added a 45m long real ice slide.

Managing director Richard Elmer told Access: “The Ice Box as a group has achieved over 260% sales growth in the last three years, in developing this specialist sector of the business and is aiming to increase its Icebox Entertainment client portfolio by more than 15% in this trading year.

“Following three successful years of strategic growth, entering this market on the back of our core business and experience, we are now an established producer of live seasonal events and ice rink projects, which we intend to build on through 2015 and into the future.”

Creative director Philip Hughes added: “Following our third winter season’s success, operating and producing highly attended live events, collectively attracting over 200,000 visitors, we are now set to carry out expansion plans to our Ice Box Entertainment division. Our experience in creating original installations in ice around the UK, Europe and globally for major brands, has given us the scope and ability to create high quality ice related consumer events and Ice Box continues  to lead the way. We are looking forward to a successful 2015.”

In 2012, Ice Box launched Ice Box Entertainments, a team of specialists who understand ice as a unique communications tool to develop this live events division, to produce, create and develop the live event sector, around ice rinks. From developing ticketing platforms and event websites through to full creation and production, Ice Box has invested in the long-term live events side of the business.

In March, Ice Box was commissioned by Life agency & drinks giant Molson Coors to create a pop up ice bar in Spinningfields, Manchester, plus the Coors Light Ice Bar in Brixton. Utilising six tonnes of crystal clear ice blocks, the result was a dazzling bar & DJ station, accompanied by snow angels and a life size ice wolf.

Ice Box created the 100sqm ice interior working with SXS Productions, who looked after the AV, structures and branding. Enjoyed by hundreds of guests the events were created as part of a long-term interactive campaign, featuring world-renowned DJ sets, plus exclusive competitions.
