ISES UK’s new incoming president Kevin Jackson last night announced plans to double membership as a new board was revealed.

Some 70 event professionals attended an event at the South African-themed Shaka Zulu to mark the presidency transfer as Kevin Jackson takes over from Kelly Baker.

Jackson – who recently announced he was leaving George P Johnson – told delegates that it is his aim to double membership numbers. “If each member enlists just one person then that would signal a significant shift,” he said.

He also called for more value for members and an increase in the society’s profile

The new board:
Kevin Jackson – president
Kelly Baker – immediate past president and VP finance
Simon Burton – VP marketing
Jason Scott – marketing director at large
Jen O’Higgins – VP membership
Ru Barksfield – innovation director at large
Rui Cruz Alves – membership director at large
Robert Dunsmore – VP programmes
Darren Bandoo – programmes director at large
Terence Corness – director of education
Mandy Mahil – education director at large
Toni Griggs – EMEA brand champion
James Morgan – EMEA affiliate chair

Baker reflected on memorable moments of her ISES presidency, in particular thanking her sponsors and supportive board members.

With the support of Jacqui Partridge from Partridge Events, Shaka Zulu handled the night’s catering, drinks and the South African entertainment with performers dressed as safari animals breakdancing and swinging from the bars.

Jackson said: “We have big plans for ISES and last night certainly kick-started the year. The strength of the carefully selected new board will help us deliver the goals I’ve set out – I’m very excited to take ISES forward and carry on Kelly’s good work.”

Baker added: “Last night was an opportunity to thank the board members, sponsors and members who have supported myself and ISES throughout the last year. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the presidency and look forward to staying involved as vice president of finance.”

Further sponsors of the night included: Shaka Zulu, Partridge Events, Present Communications, Indigo Plum, Cvent and Reftech.
