Easyfairs, Media 10 and Reed Exhibitions are some of the latest companies to sign up a team to attend and support the Event Industry Sleepover.

Taking place at Olympia, on 17 September, the women-only networking event will raise money for both Macmillan Cancer Support and Breast Cancer Now, with all the £30 ticket sale proceeds going to the two charities.

Lourda Derry, operations director at Easyfairs, praised the event for celebrating women in the industry and is delighted at the opportunity to raise money for charity: “This is a fantastic industry initiative that our team are very much looking forward to.”

“It’s encouraging to see the great contribution our industry makes to charities and those in greater need than ourselves. It’s also very appealing to support something that’s going to be such great fun.”

Amy Jordan, marketing project manager at Easyfairs, added: “I’m looking forward to meeting old colleagues and also meeting new people in the industry. I know a lot of the girls at Easyfairs are excited about the free pampering and yoga that they can take advantage of.  It’s going to be a great night at Olympia.”

With members of the industry continuing to sign up ahead of the event, both Breast Cancer Now and MacMillan Cancer Support last week expressed their delight at the support from the industry.

Julie Holland, fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Support said: “We are so happy to have the support of the events industry with a fantastic industry sleepover to raise money and awareness of Macmillan Cancer Support.

“All the funds raised will be used to fund vital cancer services for people affected by cancer, from specialist cancer nurses to grants for cancer patients with money problems. No one should have to face cancer alone and the support from the industry will help us be there for people and their families when they need us most.”

Natalie Aspinall, community engagement officer of Breast Cancer Now, echoed Holland’s praise of the initiative: “We are delighted that the event industry is supporting Breast Cancer Now by providing an innovative Event Industry Sleepover to raise money for this devastating disease.”

The Event Industry Sleepover is the brainchild of Reed Exhibitions group operations manager Jennifer Booth, who teamed up with International Confex, Ways & Means Events, Olympia, London Book & Screen Week and NOWIE to bring to life the women-only event.
