New Yorkers were given a taste of King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut when the venue was picked to represent the UK music scene as part of a ‘Big British Invite’ event.

The two-day pop-up in Soho, Manhattan, a Visit Britain and British Airways initiative, showcased the cultural scenes shaping contemporary England, Scotland and Wales, from food and fashion to music and nightlife.

“We’re delighted that King Tut’s was chosen [on behalf of] the British music scene and that New Yorkers were given the chance to experience the venue,” Geoff Ellis, CEO of owner DF Concerts, said.

“Countless artists, including Radiohead, Snow Patrol, Biffy Clyro and Oasis have told us over the years that playing at King Tut’s was one of their favourite early gigging experiences. We put this down to the atmosphere of the place, the unrivalled Scottish audience, and of course we’ve always made sure we serve all bands hot food!”

“Everyone understands the allure of Big Ben and Buckingham Palace, but there’s more to Britain than these towering beacons of pageantry. It is a veritable tour de force for the arts, literature, contemporary music, cocktail culture and more,” Karen Clarkson, vice president of North America for VisitBritain, added. “We want to inspire a new wave of New Yorkers to experience the best Britain has to offer.”
