Production team Special Event Services (SES) turned to L-ACOUSTICS to provide the PA system for American blues rocker Joe Bonamassa’s world tour this spring.

Two dozen K2 boxes joined Bonamassa and his team on the North American leg of the tour. This is the K2’s first official tour as a main PA.

Bonamassa is ‘opening’ for himself on the tour – playing an all-acoustic set before getting into his heavier, electric blues material. Tour engineer Scott Ragsdale said that the K2 allowed for this versatility in sounds.

“I love for things to sound natural and detailed, and the K2 does that very well,” Ragsdale said. “The mix tracks really well between the lower volume acoustic stuff and the loud – and it can get loud – rock set.”

The K2 system has been in the works at L-ACOUSTICS since last year’s Prolight + Sound show in Frankfurt – and it appears to have proven its capabilities in this first outing.

“When L’ACOUSTICS’ director of business development Jochen Frohn told me what it was going to do and how little it was going to weight, I told him, ‘Jochen, if this does everything you say, you will have an absolute home run,’” said SES’ Jason Farah.

As proof of the system’s success, Farah added: “We have already placed our order for our second and third K2 systems.”
