The Local Authority Event Organisers Group (LAEOG) has welcomed three new committee members at its eighth AGM, held at City Hall Bradford on 15 March.

Helen Thackeray, events officer for Hull City Council, Janice Hunte, events manager for Vision Redbridge Culture & Leisure and Stacy Williams, senior outdoor events officer for Derby City Council—all longstanding members of the organisation—have joined the managing team.

“Its brilliant to get new faces with fresh ideas joining the committee,” said Lee House, chair of LAEOG. “We have dwindled in numbers recently with people departing from local authorities and we are ready for some new impetus and delighted with the new additions.”

Delegates attending the free training day and AGM had a day to discuss key issues. ‘Operation London Bridge’, presented by Richard Le-Van Daele (Lord Mayor’s Office) and Tom Horner (West Yorkshire Police Force Planning Unit) ran through protocol for a state funeral and the impact it will have on any events taking place.

“It’s important for LAEOG to provide good quality and good value training and advice for its members,” House added. “It’s essential to our professional development and to ensure that local authority events are ready for the next steps. We will shortly be announcing the programme for our two-day training event to be held in Bath on 10–11 October, where you can expect more of the same quality.”
