Access All Areas was on hand to see catering, logistics and brand support firm Global Infusion Group (GIG) receive the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.

GIG’s founder and CEO Tony Laurenson accepted the award presented by Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher at a special ceremony at the company’s headquarters in Chesham last Friday (27 July).

“As a local lad, I’m extremely proud of my Buckinghamshire roots,” Laurenson said. “The award is first and foremost a tribute to the entire team here at GIG, both those in the offices and onsite at locations globally.”

The ceremony’s invited guests were greeted with champagne on arrival, canapés and a retro ice cream van. Singers from the We Will Rock You musical – which just closed after 12 years on London’s West End – entertained the crowd before a royal visitor arrived on the back of a motorbike. As part of The Globe Girls drag troupe, The Queen joined the other girls on stage, treating the audience to a drag queen act of classic songs.

Originally launched as Eat to the Beat – an artist, production and crew catering business specialising in backstage catering services for music, entertainment, film and TV industries – GIG caters for international tours, major festivals (such as Glastonbury and Reading), concert venues, and TV and film locations.

Additional divisions were added to the Eat to the Beat brand as the business evolved and now includes a bespoke corporate and private party planning, catering and event design division (GIG…fyi) added in 1988; global sport and automotive event catering (GIG SPORT) since 2002 and a logistics and brand support division to promote predominantly food and drink products (…e2B…) since 1997.

“GIG wins the Queen’s Award for International Trade having grown overseas earnings over the last three years consecutively,” Sir Henry said. “They are an example to us all and they add to the prosperity and vitality of this county, the entrepreneurial heart of Britain.”
