Academy Events expands with three new promoters

Academy Music Group's (AMG) promoting division, Academy Events, is expanding with the addition of three new promoters to the team – Sean Ryman, Joe Splain and Joe Schiavon (pictured, left). They will join established promoter Sean Morgan and head promoter Ian Richards.
Academy Events promotes in excess of 700 events in-house across the Academy Music Group venue estate, staging gigs of all sizes and genres.
With access to over 30 different venue configurations within the O2 Academy portfolio nationwide and managed Students' Union venues in Liverpool and Bournemouth, Academy Events represents both internationally known acts and emerging artists, through venues with capacities ranging from 250 up to near 5,000 at O2 Academy Brixton.
Ryman formed his own promotions company in 2008, promoting rock, metal, and punk bands in Liverpool and Manchester. In 2014 he joined the Academy Events team to promote shows on a national scale. Over the past 12 months he has hosted shows and tours for several home-grown and international artists, including Taking Back Sunday, The Used, Dead Kennedys, Don Broco, Lower Than Atlantis.
Morgan has been with Academy Events since April 2012 after 22 years at Manchester Academy, where he was venue manager and in-house booker. Morgan has strong relationships with major agents and promoters to working with artists such as I Am Kloot, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Happy Mondays and The Hummingbirds.
Schiavon is consulting with Academy Events, an independent, London based concert promoter, he is managing director of Transmission Music Group. Over the past eight years, he has worked with artists including Mumford and Sons, Two Door Cinema Club, Frank Turner and Foals. Joe also programmes various outdoor events in the UK, including the prestigious Glastonbury Festival.
Splain has over 20 years' experience in the live music and club industries and is General Manager of AMG's O2 Academy and O2 ABC venues in Glasgow. Prior to joining AMG in 2007 he was music programmer at Manchester's Band on the Wall and Manager at The Arches, Glasgow. Joe now also promotes nationally across AMG venues, with a specialty in hip-hop, soul, funk, reggae and electronic, working with acts such as Wu-Tang Clan, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Nas & Damien Marley and Jurassic 5 to Gregory Porter, Charles Bradley and Armin van Buuren.
Our Academy Events promoters have a wealth of experience and strong relationships in the industry and I'm delighted to welcome newer members Joe and Sean to the team, said AMG’s chief operating officer Graham Walters.
Collectively they promote a wide and diverse programme across our nationwide venue estate, from all musical genres; pop, rock, metal, dance to indie and alternative, classic and heritage acts, as well as producing unique and bespoke events for brand partners. Our venues are an integral part of the UK's live and local music scenes, and the team will continue to further support new and emerging artists and initiatives. Their appointments are integral to our long-term development.
