Access All AreasAl Gore is reviving his Live Earth festival eight years after the inaugural event, it was announced today (22 January).
The 2015 eco-friendly worldwide festival, founded by Gore and Kevin Wall, aims to spread environmental awareness and voice climate change concerns ahead of the annual UN climate change conference in Paris.
Pharrell Williams (pictured above with Gore) joined the festival’s founders on stage at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland to announce Live Earth 2015. Williams will serve as event’s creative director.
The festival will be held on 18 June; though no artists have been announced yet, the four to six hour concerts will take place in New York, Johannesburg, South Africa, Sydney, Australia, Beijing, China, Sao Paulo, Brazil and Paris.
“Instead of just having people perform, we literally are going to have humanity harmonise all at once,” Williams said.
The organisers hope that Live Earth 2015 will collect one billion signatures in an effort to convince world leaders to adopt new climate policies at the Paris conference in December.
