After creating temporary structures for winter attractions, GL events has launched a new division to provide a full design and installation service.

The new venture will cover every element, from the ice rink itself to the hospitality structures, full interior fit-out and branding, supplying the skates, and even training staff on how to maintain the ice and keep it safe for customers.

In a joint venture with Polaris Ice Rinks, the new division will see GL events working across the country, installing bespoke temporary ice rink facilities.

Temporary ice arenas are also a possibility; with help from GL events Seating and Stadia, the company can build a venue complete with temporary grandstand seating.

“We’re thrilled to launch GL events Polaris Ice, a new division within the Group, focused solely on delivering ice rink projects,” said Scott Hayward, managing director of GL events UK. “We’ve seen an increase in demand for ice rinks and our structures have been proven to meet the demands while our team has extensive experience of creating facilities to a tight deadline and in environments where space can often be restricted.

“The joint venture with Polaris Ice Rinks will see us providing a complete turn-key solution, advising on every detail that is needed to make the project a commercial success.”

The new division will be headed up by Jack Johnson and Rebecca Owen, who both have extensive experience working within the temporary structures and ice rink industry.
