Four-time Grammy nominee Steven Wilson kicked off his UK and European tour to support his new album Hand. Cannot. Erase at the Cambridge Corn Exchange.
Wilson will continue his ten-country tour through April before heading across the pond for several dates in the USA and Canada.
Lighting designer Matthew Jensen recruited Hawthorn's Mick Freer to create the visual impact for the UK gigs. Wilson's brief, he said, was to create a show that I hope will raise the bar both musically and visually from my previous tours.
Freer and Jensen chose 81 superlight semi-transparent Glux 1m x 0.5m LED panels to create a video wall that plays bespoke video footage during the gigs. Hawthorn also supplied a lighting and media package that uitlised Clay Paky Alpha 700 spots, Aleda B Eye K10s, Thomas Pixel Par 90s, Sharpy Washes and SGM P5 LED floods, and Avolites Ai servers.
Freer commented: It's been great working with Matt Jensen and everyone else involved in this production and I look forward to supporting Matt with his staging design throughout Europe.
