The National Theatre’s Temporary Theatre – formally known as The Shed – will open has a pop-up events space for a limited run of five months from September this year.

While the theatre prepares for its relaunch as a drama venue in spring 2015, the space will be available for corporate event bookings.

The raw steel, plywood and red timber cladding on the Temporary Theatre is planned as a quirky alternative to standard events spaces. It has a standing capacity of 200, seats 70 for dinner and hold 185 for conferences.

The year-old space – opened in April 2013 to provide a third home during the Cottesloe Theatre’s renovation and transformation into the Dorfman – is open for bookings for events held between 15 September 2014 and 28 February 2015.

The Temporary Theatre recently won a bid to extend its life through 2017.
