Primus Protective Consultants were selected as the security partner for this weekend’s recording of the Band Aid 30 single, out now.

Primus managed security for some of the biggest names in British music as they came together to record the single on 15 November 2014. The Cardiff-based firm is featured in the credits on the single itself. All proceeds of the song go towards fighting the Ebola crisis in Western Africa.

“We were so proud and honoured to be the security partner for Band Aid 30,” the firm said in a statement. “We are also thrilled to see the success of the single this week, with the proceeds going toward battling the Ebola epidemic.”

Primus was tasked with devising the event plan – including completing risk assessments and barrier design plans, creating and implementing the accreditation system and providing security personnel to man the event. They also carefully coordinated the arrival and departure strategy of all artists to ensure the smooth running of the day and liaised with the police and local authorities to get the necessary permits and permissions in place.

Band Aid 30 was organised by Sir Bob Geldof and is the most recent incarnation of the “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” charity single. The recording included world-famous musicians such as Bono, One Direction, Chris Martin and Ed Sheeran.

“Let me put it very simply – I have no idea how the recording of Band Aid 30 would have happened without Primus,” said trustee of Band Aid Trust John Kennedy. “How does one measure great security? Firstly, careful planning and they certainly delivered that. Secondly, on the day you want to have confidence in your security team and team Primus put forward operated magnificently over a very long day. Most of all, you want your security team to keep people safe and, on Saturday, no one felt unsafe at any point.”
