Projection Artworks created a projection map last week at Battersea Power Station for a Heineken Ignite London’s ‘Open Your City’ event.

The projection specialists used bespoke video mapping designs inspired by both the London skyline and Heineken’s signature green colour scheme. A three-minute show at the beginning of the night saw the projected animations simulate the famous Power Station coming to life and opening up to the 1,000 guests gathered.

The 3D projections were ‘audio-reactive’– meaning that as headliner Jungle played their set, the videos twisted and transformed in beat to the music.

Guests were given light-up Ignite bottle holders, which illuminated their Heineken bottles in time to the music and lit up when drunk from or touched with another bottle. Heineken also encouraged everyone to share their night on Twitter using the hashtag #OpenLondon.

“The #OpenLondon concept really allowed us to push the architectural boundaries of Battersea Power Station,” said Projection Artwork’s senior account manager Kelly Eagle. “We were able to create lots of especially spectacular optical illusions and 3D effects inspired by the ‘opening’ theme.”
