The Queen Elizabeth II Centre will move ahead with plans to close on 24 July for an extensive £12m renovation and rebranding project.
The seven-floor venue, a London landmark opposite Westminster Abbey, will be closed for six weeks as improvements are made to its interior and exterior.
New static and digital signage systems will be installed, along with new ceilings, dimmable halo lighting, strip lighting and LED colour changing uplighters.
The centre’s flagship room, the Churchill, will introduce a LED star cloth and ceiling-mounted moving lights.
Breakout rooms on levels two and three will also feature in a reconfiguration of the centre’s spaces, and the front canopy, offering views of Westminster Abbey, will be fully renovated to feature colour customisable pin spot lighting.
The QEII Centre began the renovation and rebranding project 18 months ago to incorporate the latest technology, luxury fixtures, discreet security and new concierge service.
This latest round of summer refurbishments is due for completion in early September.
“This phase of work continues with our multi-phased master programme that has already transformed the centre and had a significant impact upon our trading,” said QEII Centre chief executive Mark Taylor. “What is particularly interesting to note is that while we have changed physically, we have also evolved philosophically, too.
“We have invested and analysed our customer journey and our clients have remarked on the change; the team have all got a new spring in their step.”
