The Science Museum has announced it will hold a TEDx event on 17 June in its IMAX theatre. TEDx events are similar to official TED talks but local and independently organised.

Around 17 speakers and performers will speak at the event from across science, technology, education and the arts.

Among the well-known names speaking at the event, which will be hosted by Lauren Laverne, are Al Murray, Professor Stephen Hawking, award-winning documentary filmmaker Anthony Green and space scientist Professor Lucie Green.

Tom O’Leary, licence holder for TEDxLondon and director of Learning, Science Museum Group said: “The Science Museum is a fitting new venue for TEDxLondon. We are delighted to welcome such a fascinating and varied group of speakers and performers to the stage for what promises to be a thrilling TEDxLondon 2016.”

The event will be live streamed via tedxlondon.com.
