New event logging and incident management technology, Raven, has launched at the SEC.
Scotland’s largest event space, Scottish Event Campus (SEC), has adopted Raven, a new event logging and incident management app, designed to improve its safety procedures and give the SEC team more visibility and control over each event.
Created by resilience and crisis management experts, ID Resilience, Raven helps event managers and security officers across the entertainment and sports industries streamline the safety logging of their events. Developed in partnership with Dundee-based app development company, Banntech, the app is a designed for event management.
Speaking about the implementation of Raven, Mark Laidlaw, director of operations at SEC said: “Raven enables us to respond to incidents with greater efficiency than ever before. As a large-scale event venue operator, the safety of our visitors is always paramount and we take all necessary steps to properly reduce, log and manage incidents. Raven is central to this.”
Launched this month, Raven is based on a reporting format recognised by the emergency services that enables instant capture and communication of site wide incidents at events via both mobile and computer.
ID Resilience managing director and creator of Raven, Ian McLeod Kerr, drew on his experience as a former police office and counter-terrorism and emergency planning specialist when creating the app. He explained, “Both the sports and events industries in the UK are way behind when it comes to logging key decisions and actions critical to their operations. Most still rely on pen and paper as a system for recording and managing incidents. With the threat level as high as it is, this is just no longer acceptable.
“We launched to help sports arenas and event venues across the UK improve their safety procedures through the use of technology. The need for a real-time digital incident logging system has never been more prevalent.”
As well as SEC, the app is also being used by Liverpool Football Club, Celtic Football Club and Roskilde Festival and will be rolling out across other high-profile sport, music and large-scale events over the year to come.
