O2 has re-appointed agency Sledge for a two-year contract design, develop and produce all its large events in the UK.

The agency has held the O2 account for the last 11 years, with a remit including internal and external events, the management of areas at The O2 arena, rugby sponsorship activations and corporate events.

O2 held a pitch process that included multiple rounds before choosing Sledge.

“Sledge plays an important part in that mix for us,” said John Worthington, head of events, O2. “We are working in an ever-competitive world and we require our agencies to help the brand stay at the forefront of consumers’ minds. This can only be achieved through original and thought-provoking work that is flawlessly implemented.”

Nic Cooker, CEO, Sledge added: “This appointment strengthens our belief that long-term relationships are extremely beneficial for everyone; the agency develops a fuller understanding of the client, the organisation and the brand so they feel like a natural extension of the team. There’s also an understanding of what has been achieved before and what will be well received, so no time is wasted in putting ideas forward that will never work. A solid relationship also creates a higher level of trust, so the agency knows which way the boundaries can be pushed in order to develop some truly amazing events.”
