Tactical Support Group (TSG) – formerly Definitive Event Policing – helped keep the 200,000-capacity Great Dorset Steam Fair safe earlier this month, in the company’s first major contract.

The fair’s operations director, Julian Hubbuck, said he was impressed with the collaborative relationship TSG formed with Dorset Police. “I was looking for enhanced response cover and TSG provided a very competent, highly trained solution,” Hubbuck said.

TSG was developed by a former senior training officer for the Met, a point the company hopes will distinguish it from other show security providers.

TSG worked across a number of operations with the Dorset force, cutting the fair’s impact on core policing off-site and serving as a testament to its capacity to deliver a viable, cost-efficient policing alternative.

“Members of the public were comforted by the fact that we were on the ground to act within the same capacity as the police,” said TSG’s director David Boswell. “It was encouraging to see how quickly event security understood what we were about, too; there was a fantastic relationship between all the agencies, which speaks volumes for TSG and where we sit as a specialist organisation in the industry.”
