A start-up ticketing agency with investment from the former deputy chairman of Wembley Stadium, Sir Peter Thompson, has raised £1.1m in angel investor funds – enough to launch its service manifesto.

The Government-endorsed Innovative UK, which funds, supports, and connects innovative UK businesses, has also awarded £25,000 to the service, called Una Ticketing.

The Una system claims complete transparency, and its manifesto promises to ‘abolish ticket crime, unethical touting, and extorionate admin fees’. The complete service will provide customers with ticketing, access control, cashless payments, and real-time onsite analytics – using an RFiD access card and mobile app pass.

The start-up has support from MPs, key industry insiders, and angel investors – including Sir Thompson, Sharon Hodgson MP, Mike Weatherley MP, and Attitude is Everything CEO Suzanne Bull MBE.

“Having been involved in my business life with sporting and other events, one aspect that needs bringing into the 21st century is the ticketing arrangements,” Sir Thompson said. “The Una system will, when adopted, solve most of the current problems, including cost, security and crowd control.”

Una customers must register for an account to receive a personalised smart card and mobile app pass, valid for three years. The one-off £5.99 fee for the pass, Una says, means that pass holders will not pay booking fees for their tickets.

Already, 1,000 passes have been purchased.

“Do not dismiss us as just another start-up ticketing agency,” said founder Amar Chauhan. “We are here to shake up the establishment and give power back to fans.

“We have built a solid end-to-end solution to combat the widespread problems in the ticketing industry, which can take on the leading agencies across all live event sectors.”
