Birmingham’s Genting Arena has made a first of its kind investment in state-of-the-art equipment.

New audience LED fixtures have been installed, which will be individually controlled and have the ability to produce a multitude of colours. The working lights have also been replaced with a new LED florescent fitting that will raise the overall light levels in the arena bowl.

The control system at the arena has also been completely renewed with super-fast fibre optic cables and ETC programs. This will create a stable futureproof control system with the ability to integrate with visiting productions’ lighting desks.

The investment is worth £800,000, and will be used by the arena’s in-house technical team.

“The installation of this new colour changing lighting system has really improved the quality of our lighting solutions within the arena, and will help create an unforgettable experience for all our eventgoers,” said Phil Mead, managing director of the Genting Arena.

“The system can create different atmospheres for all genres of event, and allows event organisers to use their exact brand colours throughout the arena. With our lighting, they have more flexibility to deliver a bespoke customer journey.”

The technology on offer at the Genting Arena is the first of its kind to be installed in a UK arena, according the NEC Group, who owns the venue.
