Wernick Events spent 24 days breaking company and national records as they followed Rod Stewart on tour.

This was the first time the team had taken part in a touring show, and the biggest flat floor seating set up the team had ever experienced. The record-breaking stop in Southampton’s Rose Bowl Cricket Ground saw 23,500 flat floor seats installed in the venue, the largest amount ever seen at a single flat floor seating event in the UK. The seating had to be installed and numbered within just 40 hours.

Wernick Events won the contract with music promoters Cuffe & Taylor thanks to competitive costs and quality customer service.

With the show playing venues across the length and breadth of the UK; the team needed to handle the logistics of transporting vast amounts of stock over considerable distances. The kit (and team) had travelled nearly 3,000 miles by the end of the tour.

The Wernick Events crew had just one day to set the seats up and one day to take them down again. Not only did the seats need to be erected quickly, but once they were installed, each seat needed to be numbered and lettered. With some venues requiring over 20,000 seats, project manager Paul Moreton and the team achieved a huge amount of work in a very small amount of time, and all while maintaining high levels of health and safety on site.

“It was a huge challenge,” said Moreton.“But I wouldn’t change a thing. It’s not every day you get to work with such incredible teams of industry professionals and of course Sir Rod Stewart himself.”

Cuffe & Taylor, the tour promoters, commented: “Wernick had a can-do attitude right from the start, and tackled the challenges of providing such large amounts of seating without hesitation. Not only did they ably assist us in delivering a record breaking tour, but they consistently met our high standards for health and safety and were prompt and professional throughout. We look forward to working with them again.”

As a result of their successful partnership for the Rod Stewart Tour, Wernick Events have since supplied for Cuffe & Taylor at the Greenwich Music Festival.
