White Light have completed work on one of of the year’s biggest awards ceremonies, the Glamour Awards.

Now in its 12th year, the Glamour Awards, held on 2 June at Berkeley Square Gardens and hosted by Claudia Winkleman, annually honour the best in fashion, film, music and television.

Timebased Events, who produce the event, brought in White Light for the third year to light up the venue.

“The Glamour Awards expect a high quality level of service, and we are constantly pushing ourselves in an attempt to make them the best they can possibly be,” said Katy Haile, Timebased’s client services director. “As it is important for us to achieve a certain feel and artistry, it is equally as important that the companies we work with, such as White Light, find ways to help us achieve this.”

The ceremony itself took place inside several outdoor marquees, which presented a particular challenge for White Light.

Project manager Richard Stirzaker (who gave his lighting top tips in this month’s Access All Areas) said: “As the venue was being created specifically for the awards, we only had two days to set everything up. Timing was one of the key elements in the pre-production stages.”

No need to worry, though, as Stirzaker stressed that White Light’s experience at the awards gave the team a leg up. “What’s great about working on something like this, is that over a period of time, we are consistently managing to streamline with each event,” he said. “Therefore, year on year, we are constantly strengthening our already well-established skills, which ultimately means the best results for the client.”

High profile winners at this year’s Glamour Awards included Fearne Cotton for Best Radio Personality; Rita Ora for Best TV Personality; Best Sportswoman for Laura Trott; Best Theatre Actress for Gillian Anderson; and Kate Hudson for Best Entrepreneur.

Calvin Harris won the night’s only male award, for Male of the Year.
