Why Not People, which hosts live events for people with disabilities, will stage its biggest-ever event on 1 July at London’s Troxy.

The event will be designed so that disabled people will be able to sit with their friends, getting rid of the need for viewing platforms.

Hosted by Radio 1 DJ Jameela Jamil and with a headline set for Tinie Tempah, the event will feature entertainment from different genres, including comedy, live music, and talent showcases. It will also preview new technologies like the SubPac audio system, which focuses low frequencies to the body, helping the audience ‘feel the sound’.

“One in five people in the UK have a disability, so while this event might seem revolutionary, in actual fact it will be the first true representation of our society in an event environment,” said Why Not People’s MD Divya Daryanani.

“Troxy was our venue of choice due to its great access and having previously hosted events such as Rays of Sunshine, which also have a high percentage of people attending with disabilities.”

Tickets are on sale now for Why Not People members.

Meanwhile, Troxy is set to host a showing of Top Gun as part of Ultimate Power’s existing club night at the venue on 26 June.

Ultimate Power, the brand behind the iconic power ballad club nights, has recognised the synergy between its popular club night and iconic film soundtracks.

The cinematic screening of the classic 1986 movie will take place in Troxy’s Grand Hall with a capacity audience of more than 1,000 seated on the Lower Ground Floor and in the Circle. Following a quick venue turn around to remove the temporary furniture, the audience will unite downstairs for a full club experience.
